Copy the core: [actual service area and professional identity] + [brokerage identity as required] + [one true service or process] + [one current next step]. These are editable copy scaffolds. Check the completed text in your current profile editor and have required advertising disclosures reviewed before publishing.

Write a specific bio without unsupported claims

Someone may arrive after watching a property Reel, seeing your name on a sign, or receiving a recommendation. The bio should answer three practical questions: “Is this person working in the area I need?”, “What can they help me do?”, and “Where can I find the next useful answer?” An unrelated slogan leaves all three unanswered.

Choose one emphasis for the account. You can serve several types of clients without listing every service, property category, neighboring city, credential, and hobby in the same short block. Use the linked page for the fuller explanation. A bio organizes the introduction; it does not establish expertise or guarantee inquiries on its own.

Write each part from information you can support
PartUseful inputAvoid
Area and roleYour actual coverage and accurate professional identityA list of places you cannot serve or a credential you do not hold
Brokerage identityThe reviewed firm name and required advertising detailsAn unexplained team name that obscures the brokerage
Service focusOne real task, such as preparing and presenting a listingUnverified “number one,” guaranteed outcomes, or vague superiority
Next stepA resource, current property library, or contact page you maintainA “view homes” promise leading to an unrelated form

Keep your recognizable name consistent across the profile and destination. Treat the handle, displayed name, bio text, and website link as parts of one public identity. Do not assume that placing repeated keywords in those fields improves discovery; make them clear enough for a person to recognize and use.

Copy eight real estate Instagram bio examples

Replace every bracket, including brokerage and service area. The line breaks below are intentional, but the finished length depends on your actual names and required details. Use the editor's current limit and preview. Add any jurisdiction-specific disclosures the example does not contain; these templates are not complete compliance determinations.

1. General residential agent

[Area] real estate | [Brokerage] Buying or selling? Start with a plan. Services and contact below

Use when the account genuinely supports both buyers and sellers. The destination should offer clearly labeled service and contact paths instead of sending every visitor to a single listing.

2. Listing and seller-preparation focus

Selling in [Area] | [Brokerage] Preparation, property media, launch See my listing process below

Use only if those are steps you actually provide. Link to your seller process with a current example, responsibilities, and a consultation route. Show the work behind the promise.

3. New real estate agent

[Area] real estate agent | [Brokerage] Clear next steps for your move Meet me and ask a question below

Lead with current identity and how you work. The linked introduction can explain available brokerage support and your actual preparation. You do not need to invent closings, awards, or years of experience.

4. Buyer-focused agent

Buying in [Area] | [Brokerage] Compare homes with a clear plan Buyer guide and contact below

Use when buyer services are part of your actual practice. Link to an original guide that helps readers organize property questions, then provide a contact route. Avoid promising access to every home or a guaranteed result.

5. Relocation workflow

Moving to [Area] | [Brokerage] Property research before your visit Start with my move-planning guide

Use only where you have real service coverage and a maintained resource. Explain your research process and boundaries. Describe places and services with evidence rather than steering people toward neighborhoods based on who you assume they are.

6. Condo or property-type focus

[Area] condos | [Brokerage] Unit, building, and layout questions Current resources and contact below

Choose a property type you actually handle. The resource page should distinguish unit facts from building information, name sources, and offer the appropriate next conversation. Do not imply a specialist credential you have not earned.

7. Real estate team account

[Team] at [Brokerage] Real estate in [Area] Meet the team and explore homes

Use a destination that identifies team members and their roles. Confirm who receives inquiries and who can answer them. Team achievements need team attribution; they should not silently become an individual agent's record.

8. Property-video-led profile

[Area] homes | [Brokerage] Property videos with current details Explore the homes below

Use when you maintain the linked property library. Each video should lead to current facts, status, attribution, and an inquiry path. Separate available homes from authorized examples of past work.

Shorten the finished text responsibly

Paste the completed copy into the profile editor before planning around its length. Long brokerage names, credentials, and local disclosure requirements can consume much of the space. Remove optional adjectives, repeated geography, decorative symbols, and duplicated contact information first. Do not invent an abbreviation of the firm name to make it fit.

Prepare your listing with a clear plan
Process and contact below

The shorter version names a task and a destination. Use it only if listing preparation matches your work. If required identity information leaves little room, keep the service sentence shorter and explain the process on the linked page. Required disclosures take priority over marketing copy.

Decide what visitors need before choosing a link-page tool. A general agent profile often benefits from a durable page with services, current property links, and contact information. A listing-led campaign can lead to a specific home, provided someone owns the link when that home changes status. Use your account's current website-link controls and inspect the saved public profile; a URL visible while editing is not enough to verify the handoff.

If you use a link hub, label choices by the visitor's task: “Current homes,” “Selling process,” or “Contact [name].” Avoid a long wall of unlabeled buttons. A featured home should have a recognizable identifier that matches the Reel, plus a route to its complete property page. Keep required disclosures apparent according to the rules that apply to your advertising.

Test from a visitor's phone: open the profile, follow the link, find the promised answer, play the video if present, and use the inquiry route. Check the complete path without your own account permissions. Never put a private delivery folder or an editor-only video link in place of a public destination.

Connect the bio to useful profile content

The words should be supported by the content a visitor finds. A seller-process bio can be backed by an agent introduction video, a preparation explanation, and an authorized property-media example. A property-video bio needs a maintained set of home videos with clear identifiers and current context. Choose featured content deliberately using the options available in your account.

Align the Reel and bio calls to action. If the video says “See the floor plan through my profile,” the linked page should make that home and floor plan easy to find. A generic bio promising a consultation does not resolve a property-specific request unless the destination also provides the property.

Example handoff: property Reel → agent profile → clearly identified property link → current details, floor plan, video, and contact route. Assign a person to update the link and page when the listing changes; the same profile serves old and new viewers at once.

To build an authorized property-media example, create a free Westby previewfrom listing photos and review the result. Connect your finished purchased video to a maintained destination before using it in the campaign. Westby creates property video; you manage the Instagram profile, publishing, linked pages, and incoming inquiries.

Review professional identity, claims, and the live experience

For NAR members, Article 12 and Standard of Practice 12-5address truthful advertising, apparent professional status, and firm-name disclosure. State rules and brokerage policy may add requirements. Review the complete profile and destination with your broker rather than assuming a short bio or a linked disclosure satisfies every applicable rule.

NAR's trademark guidancegoverns use of REALTOR®. Use the mark only when entitled to it and in the appropriate form. Likewise, include designations, specialties, awards, or sales figures only when you can support the claim, its scope, and its date. A team's production is not automatically an individual's record.

Record the wording, destination, approval date, and change trigger. If measuring the profile link, use aggregate campaign labels without personal information in the URL. Review relevant visits and actual conversations separately from follows or profile views. Change one part of the profile at a time when practical, and avoid attributing an inquiry to bio wording when other content and campaigns changed during the same period.

Frequently asked questions

What should a real estate agent put in an Instagram bio?

State your actual service area, professional and brokerage identity as required, one useful description of your work, and a clear next step. Support those words with a current profile link and relevant content. Shorten optional marketing language before removing required disclosures.

What can a new agent write in an Instagram bio?

Use your current role, service area, brokerage, and an honest process or communication focus. Link to an introduction or useful resource. Do not borrow a team's results or invent experience, awards, clients, or testimonials.

Should an agent's bio link go to a listing or an agent website?

Choose the page that completes the profile's promise. A general agent profile usually needs a durable services or property-library destination. A specific listing campaign can use the current property page if you maintain the link when status changes. The visitor should not have to guess which home or service the bio means.

Can a real estate agent put REALTOR in their Instagram bio?

Use REALTOR only when you are entitled to the membership mark and follow NAR's current trademark rules. A real estate license alone does not establish that entitlement. Use an accurate professional role and review brokerage and jurisdiction-specific advertising requirements.
